(More customer reviews)Basically the HUNIDIFIER CONSOLE BOTTLES (water bottle) for the Bemis 4D7800 humidifier are of poor design quality. As the water is let out of the bottle during humidifier operation, the THIN PLASTIC bottle begins to collapse at the sides. This causes a "buckling" type of strain on the lower corners. Both of my bottles developed cracks in the corner of the outlet end, and they leaked out water and overflowed the resivoir, and finally onto the floor.
I tried to use JB Weld to repair the cracks, but the buckling of the tank causes the repairs to leak after a couple of refills. The reason for the corner buckling is that there is no vent in the tank to let air in, and the lowering water lever creats a vacuum on the tank, and the weak sides and corners buckle. Apparently the valve that is to let the water out, will not let air in to prevent the tank from virtually collapsing as the water leaves it. I believe that this is because the sides of the tank is very weak and will not stay rigid enough to let air into the bottle as it empties. If the tank had a vent to let air in as the water went out, or the sides were rigid enough, the atmospheric air would force itself into the vacuum created in the tank as the water drained out of it through the check valve in the cap.
Rigid tanks or a vented tank would have solved the problem. Someone saved the company a few cents on production costs with this design, and the results are evident.
This humidifier is only about 1 year old. The cost of the tanks make replacement very exepensive especially if they will probably need replaced every year or so because of this design flaw. It appears to me that I may have to buy new bottles every year. I think I will try another brand of humnidifier.
