This one, although it's small has been working very good for us and the price is not too high either. Our daughter was born prematurely, and hospital atmosphere is so clean and sterile, I was afraid she would come down with something when she got home. We decided to set the crib and the purifier up in our room for a while until she gets strong enough to sleep alone and we can really feel a difference in the air. It is compact taking up little space and blends nicely, its not an ugly looking clump. We will be buying another one for our other daughters room.

Hunter HEPAtech 240 Air Purifier, Model 30240 1 ea Review

(More customer reviews)I originally purchased two of these purifiers to help keep down dust. It definitely helps in that arena. We then brought home a new dog, golden retriever. We hadn't had a dog for quite some time, so after a few days you could really smell the dog. I put one of these purifiers in "her" room, which is pretty big (we converted our two car garage into her room). The next morning you could really tell the difference. I will have to change the filters out in that unit much quicker than the other one in the house, but it really works in taking odors out of the air. It is a good buy!!

(More customer reviews)This item worked ok, i had it turned on 24/7 for several months. I believe mine was purchased from ebay though. It pushed out some very nice scented air with the included aroma beads. Very loud on the Hi setting, but that can be expected. Very quiet on the Low setting. It does a decent job, but don't expect too much out of this little thing.
After a few months, the unit developed a loud whistling sound... it would go away if i shut it off for a little while. Then the whistle started to stay, and it never went away. About a month or so after that, i didn't hear the sound anymore... it turns out the unit was dead.
If i ever buy some of those long skinny screw drivers, i'll open it up and take a look inside. None of my screw drivers can fit in the system right now.
Overall, it was a decent item. I wouldn't recommend it if you need something that's going to be on 24/7.

On Turbo setting can be heard but in no way impinges on life, maybe would sleeping. Does shoot out air but does not "blow" with any force. Over time, like a day, all the air in our 20'x20' living area changes. Did have a noticeable plastic like new odor the first few days of use which wore off. Haven't had any build up on the collection grid in these 2 weeks, but it would be easy to clean. Now after several months of use I change my 4 stars to 1. The low setting quit. The ozone emitted gave us headaches and irritated lungs. Ozone is toxic. I returned the product for a refund.

Left it in the living room to clean out the air. Went to take a shower and once I was finished I came back to notice that the fan had stop. ~!~ !!
ok checked it out.... The power was on and the ionizer was on, but the fan wasn't blowing. I pushed the low speed, Mid speed, and Hi speed button. To MY SUPRISE ..Nope it didn't work. Got in closer and notice there was a shortage burning smell. You know that smell when you plug-in the wrong adaptor cable to your printer and short the whole thing out.
But this Thing worked for a WHOLE TEN ULTRA SLAMMing Minutes. So I dont want to knock the company down but I did note that the way it was package.. Well let me put it this way... It was like The box was playing that old school Pong game with my Air purifier ~~~| . | ~~~
So maybe thats why it was defective after 10 SLLLLAMMMING minutes. But you can give it a try, and I hope and pray it works Well for you. But me personally....... I Wont ORDER This PRoduct NEEVERR AGAIN... and I hope that "never again," echos in your brain like you are in the grand canyon.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this little negative ion air purifier because I respond very positively to negative ions, they lift my mood and keep me alert. Plus I have asthma and allergies and thought maybe it would help with that too and it does seem to.
The rechargeable battery holds a charge for quite a long time and the charger doesn't take up a lot of space. The blue light that tells you it's on and working is nice, but can be quite bright in a dark room even when wearing it backwards The blue light makes it very easy to tell when it's turned off or when the charge has run down. As far as the positive effects of the negative ions it is not quite as effective for me as a larger negative ion filter, but it DOES help and you can't wear a tower filter :) The size and weight are great. My only complaint is that the strap is not adjustable for people with larger necks. If you struggle with depression and find you feel better after it rains or snows, try one of these negative ion filters!

-price, try to find an air purifier/ionizer for under $40
Cons:
-fully effective for rooms 110 square feet or smaller
-noise level (at low it is slightly noticable, on medium you have to turn up the tv a few notches, on high it sounds like a fan or air conditioner on full blast)
For the price, it does a terrific job in smaller rooms with the only drawback being the noise (which on low is very bearable). I leave it on high all day while I'm at work, switch to medium in the evening and low at night and it does the trick.

Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort Permanent, True HEPA Air Purifier Review

First off, I'd like to say that this is the only air purifier I've ever owned so I cannot compare it fairly to others so I won't even try. But I've read dozens of reviews about the Honeywell QuietCare 17000 and noticed the main complaint is that it's not really queit at all. Well...I hope this helps.
As far as the noise level goes this SilentComfort 18155 is very quiet on MED and LOW. On HIGH, right next to it, it's about as loud as our dishwasher about 30 feet away. So it's not bad at all. I can still hear the television and have normal conversations with the family without yelling.
I've done some of my own studies to see how well the dust is being pulled into the machine and can see there is dust building up in the pre-filter over time. It seems to work very well. I've also noticed a difference on how fresh the air smells. My sneezing is almost down to zero, when it's running, and that tells me it's really working.
It does NOT have an IONIZER which IS A GOOD THING in my opinion. I've learned that these ionizers omit ozone. Which inside the home this ozone builds up and can be very harmful to the lungs. I did NOT like the sound of that so I turned away from the "ionizer" models.
It is very sturdy, a little bulky, but not too heavy to put in other rooms from time to time when I feel the need to relocate it. It blows cold air, not like a fan and not too direct, at a 360 degree radius(it also pulls from every direction). The cold air will be nice in the summer but it's not so nice right now in the winter. I like to put it next to the bed and it can get a little chilly when my covers come off. It has a very comforting and relaxing white noise hum to it. The motor runs very soft and consistant. No rattling or buzzing of any kind. It seems very well built.
MY ONLY CONCERN is that the return/exhaust does NOT blow straight up. It blows outword on the top/sides and it pulls from the bottom. This may be a brilliant design or a serious flaw? I question...is it just filtering the same air over and over again or is it like a vortex that pulls the dust into it with the pushing air(kind of like a tornado)? In my studies I found that was a tough call for me to make. But it really does help with my allergies so I must conclude that it's working properly.
I ordered it directly from Amazon and it arrived in 4 days(that includes the weekend) and that was with the FREE SUPERSAVER SHIPPING. Amazon is always fantastic about that, so no complaints there.
OVERALL... I am very pleased, though it may be a little early to give a longevity review right now, the HoneyWell SilentComfort 18155 really seems to work great and I have no complaints. If anything faulty or negative develops I will amend it into this review accordingly.
2 THUMBS UP...and I breathe much easier now.

We have a room dedicated to small parrots, and they produce a lot of dander that we don't want to spread into the rest of the house. Our old Honeywell worked well, but it was hard to clean and fairly loud. This new one is much quieter, and works just as well, filtering a great amount of dander out of the air. It is far easier to clean, and the fact that no filters ever need to be replaced was a major reason for our purchase. It is running constantly, but it is virtually unnoticeable. We have tried several air purifiers over the years, and this is by far the best we have had.

This air purifier is quiet and due to its compact size, can be placed off the floor on a bookcase, dresser top or top shelf which makes it optimal for space-saving and placement. I don't particularly like the noise from air filters and they have a tendency to keep me up.
After spending many dollars on replacement filters and new air cleaners when the filter is no longer made or easily available, this is a welcome addition with a permanent cleanable filter. I bought two of these, one for my bedroom and one for the living room. Set on low all of the time, it is great as it just sounds like a little white noise and is not noticable most of the time. The optional ionic on and off switch, night light, as well as the automated light indicating that the filter should be cleaned is a BONUS besides the low price. So far, I am enjoying cleaner air in an old dusty house with 3 cats and 2 dogs...
I have bought the Sharper Image ionic breeze for the bathroom and find it hard to clean and hope that when I have to clean this filter. Good value for the money.

(More customer reviews)I have this exact same model under the name Emerson MoistAIR with a model number of MA08000 that we got from Lowe's about three months ago. It holds one gallon of water and does a great job in our open floor plan, about 500 + square feet or so minus one room down a hall I haven't monitored. It displays the humidity level and kicks on when needed. The unit is very quiet to the point that I don't even notice it when I am reading.
The colder it gets, the more the heater runs, the more I fill it, but it isn't using up the water at a rate that is bothersome or wasteful. The only thing bad I have to say is it's big and not the nicest looking thing in a small living space, but we only need it in the winter so I can live with it. If you have the room to hide it in a corner it's a solid mid size humidifier.
