(More customer reviews)I got this to use when I had a cold. I should have been warned by the non-medicated label on this thing, but I thought at least the vapors would be good. What I got was a pathetic little fan that blows a sort of eucalyptus smell out all night. It does me almost not good.
It runs off of two AAA batteries, generally lasting a few nights. I like the smell the fan puts out, so it's pleasant or I'd give it one star, but as for any kind of healing properties this was just worthless to me. Literally, the only other good thing I can say about this is that it was cheap.

(More customer reviews)I'm in the market for a good air purifier and this model, Hygia 6 / AC6000, was a candidate. Until I found out about not being able to replace the UV Lamp.
Here is the story. I looked around on Germ Guardian's website. They are the makers (Or distributors) of the Hygia 6. I was unable to find a replacement lamp for this purifier on the website. So I decided to give them a call to find out a price and also see how well their customer service was.
After 2 days of nobody answering the phone I decided to write them an email. I wrote them asking for a price on a replacement lamp and if I would be able to change it (their downloadable instruction manual states the lamp is not user replaceable). A few days later I received a reply telling me the lamp is in fact not replaceable. Here is the direct quote from the email, "The UV-C light is not a replaceable part for the AC6000." This seems very strange to me as UV lamps don't last forever.
I wrote customer service back asking another question. They have not responded.
While I don't own this product I thought this information should be shared so anyone considering this item knows the facts.
Update: Here is another response from customer support: "If the bulb were to stop working, then your warranty (limited 2 year) on the product would take effect. We recommend saving a copy of your sales receipt, and also registering your product. "

(More customer reviews)As someone who is highly allergic to cigarette smoke and other air pollutants and irritants, I purchased a round Honeywell HEPA air filter when it first came on the market several years ago. It still works well in the living room, but it is quite noisy even on its lowest setting.
This year I purchased another Honeywell air cleaner with a HEPA filter (Model 17400) for my bedroom because I had contacted bacterial pneumonia last year and wanted to make sure I did not get it again. Next, I purchased this Honeywell 17000 Air Cleaner (with HEPA filter) for use in a smaller bedroom which has been turned into a home office and library.
These air cleaners really work! This winter I have not had a cold or flu. Also, this Honeywell Air Cleaner with HEPA filter is whisper soft, and I have had no problems with sleeping, working, reading, watching tv, or listening to music when it is running on the low and medium settings. I leave it on all the time, and I've found that it cleans the air best when the door is closed.
It has a convenient handle on the top, so I can move it to another room quite easily. Also, it is light enough that I can take it with me in the car if I want to use it away from home.
The prefilters last about 3-6 months, (and they can be vacuumed often if you have pets who shed). I change my HEPA filter every year, but you can wait 3 years to do so. These filters are easy to change. The Model 17000 is for a smaller room, and the Model 17400 is for a larger space.
Highly recommended for anyone who has pets, who lives with or entertains people who smoke, and who is allergic to dust, molds, or pollens.

I usually use level 1 at night, and level 2 during the day when I am home. Levels 3 and 4 are a bit loud. I like that I can program it to run for a certain amount of time and not have to worry about turning it off. On really hot days, i will actually program it to run for a few hours to keep the house cool for my pets.

the fixture does not accept a regular bulb or an energy saver; must use a regrigerator bulb which is short and fits in the limited space provided.

One trick I used was to shut off the display and just let it keep on running. Many people say the readout is wrong by ten degrees. I have three readouts and it is off by one or two degrees.

DeLonghi DE400P Energy-Star 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Pump Review

(More customer reviews)New, out of the box, I turned this dehumidifier on and what a noise it made.
I removed the cabinet from around the unit and found that the fan blades were striking the top of the compreser. Because the threads of two of the three bolts that hold the compresser in place were stripped and the nuts could not be tightened down on those bolts thus the compresser leaned over to get itself under the fan blades. I added washers to the bolts so that the nuts didn't have as far to go to tighten and re-applied the nuts which pulled the compresser upright and now the fan blades don't hit. The person who installed those compresser nuts had to know they had stripped the bolts but sent it out to the customer anyway.
Now, two days later and the pump doesn't pump.
I've written DeLonghi telling them that I will ship the unit at my expense to either DeLonghi or Amazon, their choice but that I wanted my money back.
I'll keep you posted.

(More customer reviews)I was excited when I first plugged this in...it was SO quiet on the most powerful setting! The following day, I emptied the tank and refilled it. Within about a half hour, mist stopped coming out of the top. When I went to inspect the situation, water was trickling out of the BACK of the unit where the PLUG is. That seems real safe...NOT. Emptied everything out again, filled it back up, plugged it back in (dry of course) and now it doesn't produce any mist what-so-ever...and again, water is trickling out the back. I'm returning this product of course.
