(More customer reviews)I've owned 2 of these over the past 3 years. The first was bought while I lived in a dormitory at school. It leaked one day while I was at school and made a total mess of the carpet in my room! The humidifier was sitting on the floor. I tried placing it on a rack and then the window sill. Each time, it continued to leak. Fast forward, recently just bought another one as I misplaced mine after college. This one also leaks. Water overflows the basin and leaks out the back. I come home and find my night stand and the towel (which I placed underneath in case it dripped) SOAKED. I don't understand. I'll never buy this humidifier again even if it is an affordable price.

I figured it was just a novelty item but was very suprised to find that it is a real, working, quality humidifier. It has an extra cylinder and five extra little wicks. You need to use filtered water if you want the cylinder to last a year or more. I use distilled water. You CAN'T ADD OIL OR SCENT TO THE WATER OR YOU'LL RUIN IT. It gives off cool mist, continuously, and for about two hours before it needs refilling. If you don't refill it, it automatically shuts itself off. It is totally silent. About as big as a VERY large coffee mug. It plugs into the wall and the cord is pretty long. I'm buying another one!

(More customer reviews)With this humidifier I do not have that worry that I had with so many before when I would leave it on when going to sleep. This one seems to automatically turn itself off with not problem to the system itself, quite a relief. Also, filling it up is pretty easy. I pull out the top part/bucket, flip it upside down, open it up, fill it up. Although, I could see somebody who doesn't own a bathtub having difficulties fitting this into the sink. If this was true, then you would just have to fill it up like most other humidifiers by taking water to it and filling it.
There was a complaint about the direction in another review. Yes, it does shoot the moisture straight up into the air. But if your room has a fan (mine is a ceiling) going then this shouldn't be a problem. Do be careful not to leave it at full speed in a closed room for extended periods without a fan. I have done this a few times when leaving for work and noticed that there was some dampness surrounding it when I got home. Nothing severe, it evaporated within a few minutes of me turning the machine off.
I am very, very thankful for this humidifier. Especially since it doesn't use filters so mold isn't a very big issue. With this one I will wipe it out every month or so, no big deal.

(More customer reviews)Once we figured out how to use this due to un-specific directions, it seems to work OK. It has cap adapters for both the half- and one- liter bottles. It would seem the one-liter bottle would be top-heavy for this light weight unit. Do not attempt to use a two-liter bottle! They include a nylon bag to transport the unit in but we will use a one quart zip-lock for the unit and the nylon bag for the power cord. This will help us in those arid motel rooms and in our travel trailer when we are in dry climates to prevent sinus problems.

(More customer reviews)First of all, this humidifier is quiet. I keep it next to my bed and the very faint noise doesn't bother me at all. I use only distilled water in it. That's a little expensive, but I can get one-gallon jugs at Wal-Mart for sixty four cents, so it's better than having white dust all over the room. This model has a "white dust" filter, but most such filters are iffy at best.
Now for the problems. Filling is a pain. If it's not completely empty, water remains in the base, which tends to drip and spill when you lift the tank off for re-filling. So I carry the whole unit to the sink just to make sure I don't get water all over my carpet. (Water can spill if you don't keep the unit level.) Further, the refill opening is on the bottom, so you have to turn the tank upside down to fill it. The tank top is slanted, so you can't set it down. You have to hold the tank with one hand, and fill with the other. It's a very clumsy process.
The last thing I have to say is the blue light is incredibly annoying. It lights up your whole bedroom and can't be turned off. I wrap a towel around it. What were they thinking? Sure, it looks cool, until you try to go to sleep.
Overall,though, it works nicely and has been quiet, which is exactly why I bought it and am keeping it. If you are elderly or arthritic, the girations you need to go through to fill it may cause you to look elsewhere.

Air King 3-Speed Recirculating Humidifier #9915 Review

(More customer reviews)This is a pretty good humidifier. It's the best one I've had in a long time. Because it is a recirculating system when it starts to go bad the gunk ends up in the water in the tub and it becomes a little rank. It is difficult to get into some of the places where minerals build up. You will want to filter the water you put in there, like with a Brita filter. Otherwise you will be taking it apart and cleaning it every month. And it really wasn't made to be taken apart. The best way I have found to clean it is to make a nice mix of water and white vinegar and let it sit in the tub to get the minerals off. Then just run it with the vinegar in it. Your house will smell like vinegar for a couple of hours, but it will dissolve all of the mineral buildup everywhere that you can't reach, and the machine will be very clean afterward.

(More customer reviews)My daughter loves anything sesame street, and this was no exception. When she was sick we plugged it in whichever room she was in, and kept it on while she played. It's easy to carry - just make sure you hold it upright if theres water in it, because it will leak if you tip it even a little. Cleaning is easy. I use a bottle brush, bleach and soap to clean the unit, and bleach and water for the filter. The filter is very easy to rip though, so use care with that one. I ripped ours and we had to find a replacement filter (which ended up costing $20).

(More customer reviews)I love this little miracle. I expected it to leave a puddle during use but it makes no mess at all. The rumble from the motor is very soothing. Easy to use. I took away one star because the threading on the various size water bottle caps is very specific & tight so you can't use a common water bottle. The bottle needed is more like a sparkling, mineral water bottle than anything else; I also found my plastic vinegar bottle (from Krasdale) had the correct threading. It doesn't fit my Nalgene or any other of my permanent water bottles. I am a singer and used to some humidity, so this is excellent for travelling. It's easy to pack, I haven't had any need to clean it yet, I haven't had any problems at all. Also the description says there are "Two different sized bottle adapters" when it actually comes with 3.
Very much recommended!

(More customer reviews)I have the original Duracraft DCM-200. This Honeywell is the exact replacement for it. I love it. I have electric heat from an 80's furnace that has a permanent filter I cannot replace so the air in here is bad. I have permanent post-nasal drip, my son is Croup sensitive and my DH is asthmatic. Warm Mist humidifiers aggravate sinus problems so *do not* use warm mist for sinus problems.Cool Mist are great for Sinus and preventing Croup but must use filters due to the nature of waterbourne mold in cool air technology. I use my humidifiers for a 160 sf and 145 sf rooms. I keep them on low each night, and use about half the tank. My filters last around six weeks because I do not use the pro-tech bulbs (they do not work). I use BestAir Water Treatment tablets, extra strength (the pink box.) I bleach treat the water tank plus vinegar clean the base every 2 1/2 months. Yes, cool mist humidifiers make noise (warm mist sterilize with the hot steam that comes out, are quiet) but this is the quietest one I've found.If the noise of a clothes dryer next to your bedroom bothers your sleep, then a cool mist will bug you too. Kaz PersonalMist Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

(More customer reviews)I have an identical humidifier from Kaz that we like a lot. I should have known the price wouldn't be as low for the same unit. It really is a PERSONAL humidifier. It's quiet, it's effective but it should only be used in a very small room. Fortunately we were able to swap the larger one into the master bedroom and this personal size works fine for a 10x10 room. As with its larger version, the mist is pretty intense and creates a damp carpet from the mist projection - and that's on the lowest setting. We use it to offset the winter's dry air and really like the lack of mold-growing filters and the fact that it's extremely quiet. Compared to the standard cold-mist humidifier with a filter system, this is a much better alternative.

(More customer reviews)I buy these humidifiers because they are easy to clean & maintain, and they broadcast a nice mist.
There are no gooey-feeling in-the-water-filters to clean or replace. There is one little filter that cleans the air before it enters into the humidifier, but other than that there is none. It doesn't touch the water.
I have used these humidifiers to put in about 3 drops of essential oil to broadcast through my home daily. They work wonderfully. They are much cheaper than the expensive machines made for essential oils & I think they do a better job.
I have been using these humidifiers for years. I hope they don't stop making them!

Germ Guardian H1000 TableTop Humidifier Review

(More customer reviews)I was very disappointed with this product. Initially, it appeared to be exactly what I was looking for. A small, attractive, filterless humidifier for a baby nursery that had natural antimicrobial properties.
Prior to purchasing, I read a number of online reviews. Like most products, there were mixed results, but overall the impressions seemed positive. I had read a review by Paul here who claimed that the product didn't work. I assumed his review was hyperbole. Turns out Paul was right. It just plain doesn't work.
We ran this humidifier in our baby's nursery for 16 hours straight (refilling so the tank was never empty). In 16 hours, the humidity went from 33% to 34% !?!? It just plain doesn't work.
Now, I should also state some obvious stuff. We used the product in what should have been an appropriate environment. The room is very small 9'x9' and the door was closed to eliminate loss of humidity. Also, my experience can not be explained away as a single faulty unit. I had ordered two (another for the master bedroom), so we retested with a second model with identical results. Both produced a visible mist immediately above the unit, so they were 'working'.
This product has great features in theory. I was excited by the nano silver technology which in theory should make for a clean and low maintenance experience.
I returned this product and purchased a well known brand. While it didn't have all the flashy features of this Germ Guardian, it just plain works. I installed it 10 minutes ago and the room humidity has climbed more than 5%.
Bottom line. This product doesn't work. If you plan to purchase it despite these warnings, make sure you keep your receipt for the return.
