These pads really help remove the mineral by absorbing particulates before they stick to the hot surface in the humidifier. Without the pads, we would have to clean the humidifier much more often and it would be more difficult.

(More customer reviews)There are 2 fan speed settings, but there is no shut-off when it reaches the desired humidity level. Also, there are handles on the top and bottom of the water container, but they are in terrible places. The handle on the bottom is on the front, but it is tallest on the back. This makes it lean so much that you can't fill the tank fully while holding it just by this handle. Since it tapers toward the top, it will fall over if you just turn it upside down. The handle on the top is also at an edge, so the tank leans and tries to slide out of your hand. Since the tank is smaller at the top than the bottom, it is hard to tell how much of the water it has used. On the bright side, the cap at the bottom is large enough to refill from a bathtub.
They put in a slide adjustment at the base that is for longer run times. This just opens vents in the bottom center so air can go through the bottom out the fan without passing over the wick. This is a silly feature, just turn the fan down to low or turn it off sometimes. Make sure the slider is at the low side of the bar (left) which makes it put out the most humidity.

(More customer reviews)My biggest complaint is that I have to refill it everyday and its awkward to carry the base when it has water in it. Next time I buy I humidifier I will get one that holds more water. Also when you go to refill it you have to take the motor top off and lay it somewhere dripping wet. It could definitely be designed bettter, but it works. You don't see the stream of moist air coming from it (maybe because its not heated) but moist air definitely comes out.
Anyway it works just fine, but its no frills. I wouldn't pay more then $20 for it though.

Low price, filter free, easy to fill, warm instead of cool (less bacteria in the vapor), dishwasher safe, more than just on/off settings. I found it at target for $28. It makes some bubbling popping noises, but I kinda like the sound! I love the 'medical tray' b/c you can put essential oils in it to make the room smell nice! Over all, very pleased for the price. Although I am going to invest in a hydrometer.

A pinch of salt, and it steams away and shuts off automatically when low.
I love the simplicity of this unit.
After years of using all the different fancy new kinds of humidifiers that need constant cleaning and special filters and antibacterial crap, this is very nice. No muss, no fuss, just moisture in the air.
The black stuff in the water is normal and is not gross, as someone said in another review.

I have found the best is white or distilled vinegar with peroxide but please do not stand over or have your eyes close to the fumes from this combination as it can be long term harmful to vision according to studies done on these products. As long as you leave the room for the soak in the sink or in the product base, and then come to rinse it in plain water, that has come to be my favorite combination for cleaning and descaling. Not straight vinegar and peroxide but mixed in water, like gallon of water, cup of vinegar, half or quarter cup of peroxide. This also will kill any mold or mildew that might have developed.

(More customer reviews)The Hunter NiteGlo Night Light Humidifier fulfills my needs for an overnight humidifier. Given I do not run my furnace from 10pm until 4am my bedroom does get a little dry and waking up with a dry mouth several times a night can be annoying at best. So I decided to pick up this machine with the hope it would end my suffering. With varying speeds this little unit does what I need it to do. The humidifier itself has a washable filter so you don't need to constantly buy expensive filters. It comes with a nite-light so that you can monitor the water level easier and provides minimal light to see in the dark, but not bright enough to interrupt sleeping.
The motor can be a little loud and it will take some getting used to if you are a lite sleeper. The water container is pretty small and takes about 48 hours on medium speed before refilling. The humidifier works by pushing air through the water soaked filter, so it doesn't actually mist like some humidifiers do. When the water container goes empty the fan does become louder and the water left in the bottom of the unit does gurgle pretty loud. The water as it filters down into the tub does gurgle as well but its not that big of a deal. The unit breaks down into five different parts, the water container, tub, filter holder, and fan unit, making it easy to clean. The parts(not including the fan unit) made it through my dishwasher fine and the filters are easily washable in hot sink soapy water. All-in-all a good machine.

(More customer reviews)During the winter, the air in our home is VERY dry so I was not turned off by reviews of this humidifier producing too much moisture. Boy was I wrong! After 3 consecutive days of overnight use, the carpet was drenched AND there was this odd white dust on everything within a 2-3 foot radius of the humidifier! I've used it on and off for the last few months and the results were ALWAYS the same....wet carpet and white dust. Needless to say, I am in the process of looking into humidiers that don't drench carpet or produce white dust.

(More customer reviews)I give this 4 stars, simply because for a few bucks more you can get the Honeywell HWM 2030 with variable humidity control (this only has high/low) and 3 gallon capacity (this has 2 gal.). However I opted to buy this one because I wanted something a little smaller and easier to lug around. I am DELIGHTED with it. Very quiet, very effective. In the past we've owned cool mist humidifiers which were a pain to clean and needed filters and/or bacteria-killing additives. Warm mist is definitely the way to go, and the Honeywell product line, based on my limited experience plus all the other reviews, seems like the best bet to me. I'm breathing better already.

1G Vaporizer with Nightlight Review

(More customer reviews)I live in dry desert country and this humidifier is a godsend on dry days in the house. However, we bought it for overnight use and either it churns out copious amounts of steam and runs out within 3-4 hours, rendering it useless for an 8-hour overnight stretch, or it just sort of puffs pathetically, releasing tiny amount of steam throughout the night to where you don't even feel its effects. I've tried different additives (salt, baking soda) to figure out if it's a hard water/pH issue or whatever, and I can't figure it out. It's completely inconsistent, so we don't use it all that much. If I could go back I'd skip this one and get a 2-gallon humidifier instead in the hopes that it would at least get through the night.
