I like saving a buck as much as the next guy,and i always shop for the lowest price whenever i can,but this filter is junk. On rare occasions,it pays to get the original parts,THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES. You even have to be careful when you buy these from Sears. Buy them straight from SEARS.COM , and not from the PARTS department. The generic filters don't soak up water very well, the real Kenmore filters will draw water throughout the entire filter,making them 80% more effective.

(More customer reviews)I like to use this type of product to add a pleasant scent in our home and yes, it does work. Different scents are available in this brand and I like the apple cinnamon aroma best. It seems to be the most robust scent additive out of the others available. It is simple to use but is best to add the liquid to the humidifiers water after filling the container otherwise foam is created taking up water space.
I only use this product on occasion because if you think about it, it is not a cheap way to fill your home/room with a pleasing smell. The concept is great but not affordable for me with constant use. You can add more liquid per gallon of water to increase the strength of aroma which is what I need to do for my satisfaction. For this reason, cost per gallon of water, I am rating this product with 4 stars ****.
Other similar products are available such as a tablet-type scent. Just drop the tablet(s) in the water according to the intensity of aroma you enjoy. However, this form of additive is not an economical option either. I have only found this type in a local store so far.
If you're like me wanting value for the money, it is not the most cost effective way to do so. But on occasion, I do find it worth the price.

(More customer reviews)This works about the same as most sold by other humidifier companies to clean them, but no better really. I have found the best is white or distilled vinegar with peroxide but please do not stand over or have your eyes close to the fumes from this combination as it can be long term harmful to vision according to studies done on these products. As long as you leave the room for the soak in the sink or in the product base, and then come to rinse it in plain water, that has come to be my favorite combination for cleaning and descaling. Not straight vinegar and peroxide but mixed in water, like gallon of water, cup of vinegar, half or quarter cup of peroxide. This also will kill any mold or mildew that might have developed.

(More customer reviews)With this humidifier I do not have that worry that I had with so many before when I would leave it on when going to sleep. This one seems to automatically turn itself off with not problem to the system itself, quite a relief. Also, filling it up is pretty easy. I pull out the top part/bucket, flip it upside down, open it up, fill it up. Although, I could see somebody who doesn't own a bathtub having difficulties fitting this into the sink. If this was true, then you would just have to fill it up like most other humidifiers by taking water to it and filling it.
There was a complaint about the direction in another review. Yes, it does shoot the moisture straight up into the air. But if your room has a fan (mine is a ceiling) going then this shouldn't be a problem. Do be careful not to leave it at full speed in a closed room for extended periods without a fan. I have done this a few times when leaving for work and noticed that there was some dampness surrounding it when I got home. Nothing severe, it evaporated within a few minutes of me turning the machine off.
I am very, very thankful for this humidifier. Especially since it doesn't use filters so mold isn't a very big issue. With this one I will wipe it out every month or so, no big deal.

Kenmore Humidifier Wick Filter 14909, 14912, E2R Review

(More customer reviews)My advise is although these are initially cheaper they are more expensive in the long run. When I first looked at them I thought they would be a much better design due to the very open material weave. They look like a big honey comb. However, they worked very poorly. The original Kenmore filters would last 1/2 of the winter season before changing. These only functioned for about a week and poorly at that. They do not wick the water well and seem to get clogged very fast. The performance at the end of a week was about the same as the Kenmore filters after a couple of months. After getting wet these are almost impossible to replace without having them fall apart. Poor design & poor performance. Stick with the original or at least something similar.

(More customer reviews)I've ordered this product in the past and found that's it's too long and wide (9"long X 6 1/2" high X 2 1/2" wide) to replace the original filter in the Bionaire BCM4530. For this Bionaire model, I needed a filter that is 7 1/2 " long X 6 1/2" high X 2" wide. Luckily, I owned a bandsaw which I used to trim the excess length and the filter could then be compressed into the filter compartment, but the situation was far from ideal. I hope that I can find a source which sells replacement filters of the correct size.

(More customer reviews)The Hunter NiteGlo Night Light Humidifier fulfills my needs for an overnight humidifier. Given I do not run my furnace from 10pm until 4am my bedroom does get a little dry and waking up with a dry mouth several times a night can be annoying at best. So I decided to pick up this machine with the hope it would end my suffering. With varying speeds this little unit does what I need it to do. The humidifier itself has a washable filter so you don't need to constantly buy expensive filters. It comes with a nite-light so that you can monitor the water level easier and provides minimal light to see in the dark, but not bright enough to interrupt sleeping.
The motor can be a little loud and it will take some getting used to if you are a lite sleeper. The water container is pretty small and takes about 48 hours on medium speed before refilling. The humidifier works by pushing air through the water soaked filter, so it doesn't actually mist like some humidifiers do. When the water container goes empty the fan does become louder and the water left in the bottom of the unit does gurgle pretty loud. The water as it filters down into the tub does gurgle as well but its not that big of a deal. The unit breaks down into five different parts, the water container, tub, filter holder, and fan unit, making it easy to clean. The parts(not including the fan unit) made it through my dishwasher fine and the filters are easily washable in hot sink soapy water. All-in-all a good machine.
